2021 Ram 2500 Crew Cab Recalls

Recall: Y76
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID: 21V-798

Recall Affects:

FCA US has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain [2021 – 2022 Model Year (DJ) Ram 2500 Pickup, (D2) Ram 3500 Pickup, (DD) Ram 3500 Cab Chassis, and (DP) Ram 4500/5500 Cab Chassis] vehicles equipped with a 6.7L Cummins Engine.

WHY DOES MY VEHICLE NEED REPAIRS?

Your vehicle may experience an engine compartment fire originating from an electrical short in the Intake Air Heater Relay, which can potentially lead to a vehicle fire with the ignition in the “ON” or “OFF” position. A vehicle fire can result in increased risk of occupant injury and/or injury to persons outside the vehicle, as well as property damage.

Customers are advised to exercise the following precautions until the vehicle has this repair completed: do not park these vehicles inside of buildings or structures and avoid parking near other vehicles.

HOW DO I RESOLVE THIS IMPORTANT SAFETY ISSUE?

FCA US will repair your vehicle free of charge (parts and labor). To do this, your dealer will inspect the Intake Air Heater Relay. The estimated repair time is about one hour. In addition, your dealer will require your vehicle for proper check-in, preparation, and check-out during your visit, which may require more time. Your time is important to us, so we recommend that you schedule a service appointment to minimize your inconvenience.

Recall: Z20
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID: 22V-140

Recall Affects:

FCA US has decided that certain [2019 through 2022 Model Year (DJ) Ram 2500 Pickup, (DF) Ram 3500 10K LB. CAB Chassis, 2021 and 2022 (WD) Dodge Durango] vehicles fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 571.126 S5.3 ESC Malfunction requires that “The vehicle must be equipped with a telltale that provides a warning to the driver of the occurrence of one or more malfunctions that affect the generation or transmission of control or response signals in the vehicle’s electronic stability control system.” Suspect vehicles may not display the ESC malfunction indicator lamp under certain conditions leaving the driver unaware of a degraded ESC system that is not limiting engine torque during an ESC event.

WHY DOES MY VEHICLE NEED REPAIRS?

Your vehicle may have been built with an Antilock Brake System (ABS) control module that may have software which prevents the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) telltale lamp from properly displaying under certain conditions. Unexpected performance of the ESC system with no warning to the driver can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.

HOW DO I RESOLVE THIS IMPORTANT SAFETY ISSUE?

FCA US will repair your vehicle free of charge (parts and labor). To do this, your dealer will update the ABS control module software. The estimated repair time is about 1 hour. In addition, your dealer will require your vehicle for proper check-in, preparation, and check-out during your visit, which may require more time. 2022 Ram 1500 Crew Cab Recalls

Recall: Z47
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID: 22V-407

Recall Affects:

FCA US has decided that certain [2022 Model Year (DT) Ram 1500 Pickup, (DJ) Ram 2500
Pickup, and (DF) Ram 3500<10K LB. Cab Chassis] vehicles fail to conform to Federal Motor
Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 111 – Rearview mirrors.

WHY DOES MY VEHICLE NEED REPAIRS?

Your vehicle may have been built with an incompatible rearview camera system and radio
combination that may prevent the rearview image from displaying under certain conditions. The
vehicle operator will notice that the rearview image is not displayed if attempting to reference
the image while backing. If this warning is not heeded, backing without verifying it is safe
to do so could lead to an increased risk of a crash or injury to people outside the vehicle.

The condition described above does not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard
(FMVSS) No. 571.111 S6.2.6 which requires that “The rear visibility system default to the
rearview image being visible and meet the requirements of FMVSS 571.111 S6.2.1 (field of
view) and S6.2.2 (image size) at the beginning of each backing event, regardless of any
modifications to the field of view that the driver had previously selected.” Suspect vehicles may
not display the rearview image during a backing event under certain conditions.

HOW DO I RESOLVE THIS IMPORTANT SAFETY ISSUE?

FCA US will repair your vehicle [2] free of charge (parts and labor). To do this you have two
options. First, you can take your vehicle to your dealer and your dealer will inspect and if
necessary, update the radio software version. Second, your vehicle’s radio software can be
reprogramed remotely using Firmware Over The Air (FOTA) technology in the near future.

For more information: Visit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNad3kwXeBA for
details on how to update your radio. By selecting the remote FOTA technology option to update
your radio software, a visit to your dealership will not be necessary. When prompted, simply
select “Update Now” on your radio display to update the software at your convenience.

If you would like to have your dealer perform the repair, the estimated repair time is about 30
minutes. In addition, your dealer will require your vehicle for proper check-in, preparation, and
check-out during your visit, which may require more time. Your time is important to us, so
we recommend that you schedule a service appointment to minimize your inconvenience.
